Biography

Originally from Nova Scotia, I live in Ottawa, and I have been painting seriously since 2000. I have been taking classes and workshops in Ottawa. Working primarily in oils, I have been involved in plein air painting trips in Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.  

Plein air painting is something that I really enjoy, and it has become an important part of my body of work. Being immersed in the landscape and the mood and weather of the day is very satisfying and challenging.

Working alla prima, I complete works on site, and these paintings are presented or used as studies for larger studio works. I strive to capture the mood of the natural landscape and bring into my studio work the freshness and energy of my plein air work.

I have been presenting my plein air work, still life work, and studio work at shows and galleries in the Ottawa area since 2003. My most recent shows have been the Manotick Art Show 2025, the Glebe Fine Art Show 2025, and Wall Candy Noir 2023.
