Tracy Armstrong’s artistic journey began with a split-second glimpse of a man painting on a balcony during her honeymoon in Greece. Gradually, the image grew into a dream and the dream has developed into a meaningful and gratifying artistic practice.
Tracy channels her passion for colour, movement and texture to create serene and decorative abstract art. She is drawn to the natural line formations of earth and rocks, the movement of water, and the beautiful earth tones of Canada’s changing seasons. She is struck by the beauty of rust — yes, rust is beautiful! She loves looking at nature, shapes, and patterns from a new perspective, and incorporating these elements into her artwork. Found objects, recycled materials, and the printed word are all full of potential. Tracy intuitively follows the materials’ lead allowing the painting to transform, emerge and ultimately reveal nature’s simplicity and abundance.
Tracy’s work can be found in private and corporate collections across Canada. She trained under several distinguished professional artists and believes the artistic journey is a lifelong path of learning. Tracy actively participates in a number of art collectives across Ottawa including; Nepean Fine Arts League, Manotick Art Association, OMMA, WEST Art Tour, Art in Strathcona Park and the Glebe Art Garden Tour.
