Sheila Turner Whalen



Sheila Turner Whalen, a local artist, lives in Briarbrook, having moved to Kanata in 1981.  She joined the Kanata Art Club in 1990 to explore her desire to learn to paint.  Sheila is a juried member of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery and Art Lending of Ottawa.  Her art work has been an interesting journey starting with watercolour, then going to other mediums such as acrylic, pastel and when the child wants out to play, the medium of choice is fluid acrylic.  Her abstracts have earned several awards.  She studied under many fine artists, including Henry Vefinkel, Barbara Elmsley, Lila Lewis Irving and Zoltan Zabo, to name a few.  Sheila’s main interests are buildings, landscapes of the Ottawa Valley and abstracts.
