Oil, Watercolour, Acrylic, Printmaking
I was born on the foggy coast of the Bay of Fundy in Saint John, New Brunswick. Drawing and sketching while I grew up down east, I chose Nursing as my career. I worked full time as a Community Health Nurse in several provinces before settling in Ottawa while raising 2 boys. I started painting over 20 years ago and have spent more time painting since my retirement, 10 years now.
Over the years, I have taken many courses and workshops and here are a few examples: St. Lawrence College, Algonquin College, Ottawa School- Adult Art Courses, Ottawa School of Art, Ottawa Visual Art Centre, Loyalist College and Nepean, Dempsey and Heron Road Community Centre art programs.
Influenced from my yearly visits to the east coast, I often paint scenes with water and sky. As I expanded my travels and art courses, I often did sketches and watercolor studies to keep me ready for the next new paintings. Over the past years I have explored painting figures, winter scenes and urban landscapes! I enjoy oils predominately for its range of color mixtures that I continue to explore. I have learned to work with a few different mediums and have completed some other paintings with watercolor, chalk pastel and acrylics. With so many workshops out there, it’s exciting to have another option to express oneself in art. I am also a member of many local Art Associations and help organize shows like the Glebe Fine Art Show in the Glebe.
Exhibits and galleries that I have shown include the Old Chelsea galleries( Québec); the Visual Art Centre in Orleans(Art East Association); North Gloucester Library; the Ottawa Tulip Festival; the Gloucester Art Gallery( Arts Ottawa East); Francesco's Coffee Company; Shenkman Gallery ( Art East); MIFO Gallery; Farina's Restaurant & Gallery; Irene’s Pub; the Ottawa Little Theatre(monthly, Ottawa Art Association); Ben Franklin Place ( Nepean Fine Arts League); Bluebird Coffee & Gallery( March 2016; Glebe Fine Art Show and Plant Bath( West Carleton Art Association).
