Kinga Bertenyi

The artists and volunteers at Art Lending of Ottawa mourn the passing of our friend, Kinga Bertenyi on 21 February 2017 and send our sincere sympathies to her family.

Biography

In the 1960's Kinga Bertenyi studied fine art at Sir George William University and Commercial Art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art.  While still in Montreal, she took private art lessons from Prof. E. Byrd.

In 1971 Kinga moved to Holland where she studied life drawing and had an exhibition in Leyden, Holland.

In 1977 she came back to Canada and settled in Ottawa.  By 1983, she had earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Carleton University.

In the late 1990s she changed from oils to acrylics and continues to create florals, landscapes and abstracts.  Besides acrylics, she is also using other media such as watercolour and mixed media.

Kinga Bertenyi is a member of Ottawa Art Lending (five years on the Executive Board as well as an active artist), and has also been a member of the Bells Corner Art League, and the West Carleton Arts Association.  Her works have been seen at Art Rental and Sales of the Ottawa Art Gallery.

She has received numerous awards of excellence and honourable mentions.  Her paintings can be found in Ottawa, Montreal, Saudi Arabia and in Europe.

Kinga has given private lessons in the past, and in November, 1995 she taught an introductory course in acrylic painting at the Kanata Art Club.
