Biography

JOANNE IS A DEDICATED ARTIST WHO HAS DEVELOPED HER SKILLS OVER A LIFETIME.  SHE IS QUICKLY EARNING PUBLIC ACCLAIM AND NOW REGULARLY EXHIBITS AT OTTAWA AREA SHOWS SUCH AS MANOTICK, ORLEANS STUDIO TOUR AND THE GLEBE FINE ARTS SHOW.  SHE HAS EXHIBITED AT GALLERIES IN OTTAWA AND BROCKVILLE.  HER WORKS HAVE BEEN ACQUIRED IN CANADA AND THE USA.

INTERNAL PEACE, SPACE AND ENERGY ARE OFTEN DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE IN TODAY’S HECTIC WORLD.  JOANNE BELIEVES THE FOCUS OF THE ARTIST ‘S WORK HELPS RESTORE THE WHOLE PERSON TO A CENTRE WITHIN ONE’S SELF.

THE JOYFULNESS OF COLOUR IS CLEAR AS WELL.  STRONG AND SENSITIVE DRAWING SKILLS PROVIDE A SOUND BASE FOR HAVING FUN WITH A WIDE RANGE OF SUBJECT MATTER.  JOANNE STRIVES FOR THE GLOW OF LIGHT AND THE SPARK THAT JUMPS THE GAP OF RECOGNITION TO THE INNER SELF.  CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF THE MOMENT IS CENTRAL TO HER APPROACH TO PAINTING.

JOANNE’S BACKGROUND INCLUDES MUCH TRAVEL AND STUDY.  SHE HAS ALSO LIVED AND PAINTED IN FRANCE, IRAN, THE CONGO AND THE USA.

WORKSHOPS AT YORK UNIVERSITY, THE SORBONNE, THE KINSHASA ART UNION, THE OTTAWA SCHOOL OF ART, AND THE ST. LAWRENCE COLLEGE OF THE ARTS GIVE JOANNE’S ART PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH.  STUDY WITH INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARTISTS INCLUDE ARNE WESTERMAN, CARLA O’CONNOR, FRANK WEBB, DON ANDREWS, NINA FRITZ AND JEAN CARBONETTI. THE AMERICAN MASTER WATERCOLOURIST, PAUL JACKSON, HAS BEEN A TRUE INSPIRATION. IN HER PAINTINGS.
