Elvi Edwards has been painting and exhibiting her works of watercolours, oils and acrylics in Ottawa and surrounding region for over 30 years. At the same time she has been teaching art, giving workshops and juried shows in Eastern Ontario.
Birds, particularly chickadees, and flowers are a unique and notable characteristic of her work. These paintings are inspired by her love of nature gained from her grandfather who was a gardener both in his native Estonia and in Canada.
Her scenes of flowers and mythical forests combine the essential beauty of nature with the imaginative vision of the artist. The result is paintings that radiate colour and wonder, capturing the senses and expanding the imagination.
