Brenda Small

Acrylic

Biography

Brenda Small grew up in Saskatchewan, and now lives in Ottawa.

She started painting in watercolours painting a variety of paintings such as prairie scenes, children playing at the beach and markets and buildings in Mexico.  More recently she has been using acrylics to illustrate scenes and around Ottawa and where she travels.

She has worked in pen and ink and in coloured pencils.  She also works with coloured glass to make glass art windows.

She draws inspiration from what is around her, using colour to express the joy of life - children playing at the beach, flowers in her garden soaking up the sunlight, the stillness of the landscape.

She has studied with several well-known Ottawa artists and attended the Ottawa School of Art.

Her works are in private collections across Canada and the United States.
